European flag

May 9, 2021 - FEAST OF EUROPE.
A 50-meter flag over the City of Bologna

To celebrate the founding values of the Union and revive the common project of a more united and united Europe.

The long starry banner was made by stitching together some 150 European flags, in the spirit of Jean Monnet who declared "we donot unite states, we unite men."

We exposed it as early as the afternoon of May 8, the day World War II ended in '45, as a reminder that the EU was founded on the will to cooperate to overcome the tragedies of the 20th century and totalitarianism.

It is no coincidence that, in agreement with the Municipality of Bologna, which supported the initiative, our installation was placed right above the portraits of the women and men killed by Nazi-Fascism, present in the Memorial of the Fallen Partisans of Bologna and Province, in Piazza Nettuno.

On the eve of the 2019 European elections, we took the flag to the Capitol, the symbolic place that hosted the signing of the Treaty of Rome in 1957. The initiative was carried out in collaboration with Area Civica.
