- Strasbourg - Kehl
"Let's run together for Europe." It is with this invitation that in March we promoted and implemented in collaboration with Unis Vers le Sport, La Course pour l'Europe / Rennen um Europa: two races open to all, a first 3 km race for children and a second 10 km race for adults, at the Jardin des Deux Rives, the cross-border public park between Strasbourg and Kehl. A route chosen to symbolize the reconciliation between France and Germany, which ended years of conflict and helped make possible the start of the EU construction project.
Designed to promote common European values through sports and the themes of cooperation and solidarity, in addition to the two races the day was also enlivened by sports and play workshops involving some 300 children from schools in Strasbourg's Eurométropole.
During the event there was also a collection in favor of the Bas-Rhin Food Bank with the awarding of the school class that brought back the most food, and a musical review, led by the Ballade association.
The partner Unis vers le sport, is a French association for education, integration and international solidarity in the field of sports, which since its creation in 2001 has operated with the conviction that sporting activity conveys positive values and benefits essential for the education and integration of young people.
After that in May we organized the Race for Europe / Tek Za Evropo between Gorizia and Nova Gorica, on the former Italian-Slovenian border that was the scene of tragic battles during World War I, where until a few decades ago part of the Iron Curtain passed through; and in July the fourth Natalonga For Europe on the island of Ventotene, where in 1941 anti-fascists Altiero Spinelli, Eugenio Colorni and Ernesto Rossi wrote "The Manifesto for a Free and United Europe, the Strasbourg event, which took place along the historic Franco-German border under the patronage of the French Ministry of Education and the German municipality of Kehl, represented the third stage of the "PAME - Pathways of Memory" project, supported by Erasmus+ of the EU Commission, whose goal is to organize sporting events in places significant to common European memory.
